Andrew Linn says: “Guys, if there is any chance you can come to the Boathouse on Saturday, March 21, it would be greatly appreciated. Bud has organized a photoshoot and It'd be nice to have as many boats/people on the water as possible. Please come as close to noon as possible - shoot should be over by 2pm.”
Bud is the manager of the Port of Toledo, which sponsors the Toledo Community Boathouse. The photo shoot is probably something to do with promoting the Boathouse and/or the Port of Toledo Wooden Boat Show, both worthy of our support.
The tides for the messabout will be strong and favorable in the morning for getting from the Toledo airport launch ramp to the Boathouse, and the ebb tide begins around 3:00 in the afternoon to help get back to the ramp. Always stay on the outside of the river bend near the boatyard, no matter how tempting a shortcut may look. If you don't want to bring one of your boats, or don't own a boat at the moment, you can borrow one of the Boathouse's rowboats or canoes to get out on the water.

Andrew has another project in the works. If you can make it to the Boathouse on Thursday and/or Friday he might let you help:
“On March 19, I am going to do the near impossible. I will take a group of 9, 10, and 11 year olds and we will make (2) 10' paddle boats in about 2 hours. On March 20, the boats will be able to be put in the water.
“To the layman, this will appear as magic. To those who know, this ain't nuthing but prep-work.
“The boats are Tik Tak Kayaks, just under 10' long and capable of carrying an adult, an adult and child, or two (or more) children with ease.”
