John Kohnen and Brandon Ford will be leading a workshop on splicing and some traditional techniques for working with three strand laid rope, as well as working with modern synthetic braided rope. This will be a very informal workshop, with lots of BSing and laughter. We'll try to cover at least the three strand shackle splice and eyesplice, whipping, "soft shackles" in single braid Dyneema, and using the right kind of line in different applications. If time permits we'll do some seizing and talk about rigging traditional boats and maybe try some monkey's fists. The workshop will begin about 10:00 AM at the Toledo Community Boathouse.
Participants in the Coot Splicing & Ropework Workshop can camp for free near the Boathouse, or sleep aboard their boat for free at the docks.
