John Atkin at the helm of the original
Happy Clam.
| John designed and built
Happy Clam for Ed Davis.
| Because of the relatively broad, flat keel,
the boat will maintain a level position when beached or tied to a flat-bed
boat trailer.
|
The box deadwood provides protection for
the propeller (the galvanized-iron shoe had not yet been installed).
| Happy Clam is powered by a
Palmer Baby Husky.
| A compartment under a flush lid in the
thwart holds tools and small gear. A gasoline tank and a rope locker lie
beneath the slatted bow seat.
